The Son of Demeter arrives..

[Jacob Adams]

Jacob sighed again as he continued to look at the ground. He could feel Nikkie wondering why he was so depressed. She probably thought it was because of what she did to him back in the forest. Feeling this, Jacob now felt even more guilt than before. I don't know whats going on with me. I've never felt this negative before. I'm usually a really positive guy. Maybe my heart is sharing my pain Jacob silently thought as Nikkie pondered what was wrong with him. Jacob silently listened as Nikkie explained that she wasn't mad anymore, and that she apologized for her actions. Jacob continued to look down at the ground as he barely answered, ''You don't need to apologize, I got what I had coming. I'm depressed because I had only meant to ask you to be my girlfriend, and and now I ruined it by kissing you. My emotions got the better of me. I don't deserve the right to be the person you have a crush on''. Jacob took a seat in the sand, as he continued to feel guilt.

OOC: Btw, I changed Jacob's age to 13 too ;D

Nikkie looked down at the slumped form of Jacob. She moved so she could drop down next to him and see his face. "Look, it was a mistake. Yes, you did earn a slap. Truth be told, if that happened with any other girl in this camp, you probably wouldn't be standing. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to ignore you or anything. I mean, if we were to forget and discard of everyone who made a mistake, we might as well as live in isolation," she paused looking for a sign that he was at least leaving the depression zone Continuing she said, "I forgive you. A little misstep isn't going to ruin you. 'Kay?" she smiled at him, hoping she had helped.

Jacob continued to stare at the ground as he noticed Nikkie drop next to him. She explained that it though he did earn a slap, hers weren't as painful as the other girls at the camp. Jacob was still frowning but he started to listen silently. Nikkie then went on to explain that if everyone were to forgive and forget, then everyone might as well live in isolation. Jacob silently thought about that, it would be true . Continuing, Nikkie explained that she forgave him and that a little misstep wouldn't ruin him. Jacob pondered that sentence for a few seconds, then slowly rose his head towards Nikkie. ''Okay, thanks for making me feel better''Jacob said as his old smile came back. But he had one thing he had to get off his chest, ''I know this is a really bad moment to ask this, but I had to have an answer. Please give me a chance to show you who I can really be.Will you go out with me? ''.

"Not a problem," she thought about his question for a moment. "Of course, that'll be fun. As long as it isn't a restaurant or anything fancy. I have a small tendency to break things sometimes." She leaned back on her hands and looked at the lake now. "I'm glad I could help you feel better. I hate it when people are sad. It makes me unhappy that they are unhappy," she sat straight again. He had deserved the second chance. He was a good guy, just lost himself for a moment. She blushed when she remembered the kiss, but recovered quick enough. "It has been an eventful day hasn't it?"

Jacob's face was soon covered by that familiar, original smile of his as Nikkie accepted the offer. He chuckled a little, as Nikkie explained that she had a small tendency to break things. A few seconds after, Nikkie leaned back on her hands. Jacob decided to follow her lead, as he slowly laid onto the sand. Nikkie explained that she was happy for making him feel better, and that sad people caused her to feel sad. Jacob continued to lie down as Nikkie sat up straight. Jacob swore he could have seen Nikkie's face turn red for a few seconds, but he shrugged it off. He continued to look out at the lake as Nikkie said ''It has been an eventful day hasn't it?". Jacob once again smiled and answered ''It sure has''. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, then spoke again, ''How about we stay here and watch the sunset together''.

Nikkie twisted to look back at Jacob and frowned. "I thought you were starving?" she asked "And weren't you going to go and see that pegasus before dinner? Plus it's like, four hours until sunset. That's a long time to wait." She stood and brushed the sand from her hands before reaching down and offering hand to Jacob. "'Sides, I've got other training to get done with. Still got to hit the rock wall." She shrugged, "One doesn't survive in this camp or out in the mortal world without staying nimble enough to fight or get out any situation. And you should probably get settled into your cabin before dinner."

Jacob opened an eye as Nikkie reminded him of the pegasus friend, he had promised to come back and see. Jacob watched as Nikkie stood up, brushed the sand from her hands, and offered him a hand. She also explained that she had more training to do. Jacob took her hand and pulled himself up. He sighed and exclaimed ''Your right, I should go attend to those other activities''. Jacob looked back at the direction of the camp, then at Nikkie. ''Before we go separate paths, is a hug safe enough?'' Jacob asked as he chuckled and spread his arms open.

[Sawyar]

Laughing, Nikkie answered, "Yes, a hug is safe enough." She gave Jacob a quick hug before backing away and going to collect her arrows. She counted to make sure she had all twenty four arrows, looked around for the missing one before placing them all in her quiver. "I'll be leaving first." she stopped right before she passed him. "Good luck with the rest of the camp. I would watch out for Ares children. They're always looking for fresh meat." She patted him on the shoulder before trotting back towards the camp.

Jacob hugged Nikkie back, then started to stretch a little. Nikkie meanwhile, had retrieved her arrows and stated that she was leaving first. She also told him to watch out for the Ares' children, as they liked to pick on new campers. Jacob said good bye as she patted him on the shoulder and left. Taking one last glance at the lake, Jacob gathered all his belongings and started out toward the stables.

Jacob looked around at the camp as he continued on his way to the stables. In the distance, Jacob noticed the pine tree with the golden fleece. he smiled as he remembered how that was the first landmark that he saw when he first came to the camp this morning. Jacob passed the cabins as he continued to remember when he took his first steps into the camp. All his thoughts led to him meeting...Nikkie. He blushed slightly when he remembered her, she had been the first girl he had liked for a long time. Continuing on, he remembered the ''accidental'' kiss, he had given her. Blushing, it had been the first kiss he ever had with a girl, even though it wasn't official. As he neared the stables. his mind couldn't get rid of that kiss. It may have been my first, but I felt...something Jacob thought.

Snapping back into reality, Jacob strode over to his pegasus friend from earlier. The sleek, dark horse neighed slightly as it seemed that it was waiting for him. He smiled as brushed the horse's dark mane, softly with his hand. ''I missed you too '' Jacob exclaimed as the horse brushed its nose against his chest. ''I should think of a name for you, so I won't have to call you, my pegasus friend'', Jacob said as the horse whinnied in excitement. ''Hmm, how about..Night?''. The horse gave Jacob a ''you've got to be kidding me''look as Jacob put his hands up in defense. ''Alright, you don't like that one. How about...Shade?''. The horse thought for a few seconds, then nodded it's head slightly as Jacob smiled. ''Alright, Shade it is'' Jacob exclaimed. ''Hey Shade, how about we go flying?'' Jacob suggested. Shade neighed and ran out of his stall, nearly running over a startled Jacob, who jumped aside just in time.

Jacob got up, brushed himself off, then jogged after the excited pegasus. As soon as he got outside, Shade threw Jacob onto his back, galloped a few meters, then took off. Jacob stared in awe, as they flew around the camp. ''Amazing'' he breathed out, as Shade's wings extended full-length. I wonder what Nikkie's doing he thought as continued to soar.

Nikkie scrambled for a new foothold before boosting herself up higher on the wall. Racing is not a great idea. She sneaked a peak at the Hermes kid she challenged. Especiallywhen they come from the Hermes cabin. They were the only kids in camp that seemed to have more energy then Nikkie. And the kid she was against must be part spider. Nikkie pulled her self farther up. Nikkie had managed to avoid all the lava but she was now in the area most of the rocks came down from. She flattened against the wall as a small boulder fell from the top. Moving faster now she ignored the rocks and just focused on getting to the top first. Her fingers found the top of the rock wall, and another set of fingers found her wrist. She was pulled up the rest of the way by the Hermes girl. "Nikkie, will you ever learn that you don't have the stamina to go against us?" she asked. "Yes," the daughter of Apollo was doubled over, catching her breath. "The day will be when I give up," she grinned up at the girl, "and I don't give up." She stood straight, smile still plastered on her face. "Well, obviously," the Hermes child matched her smile and held out her hand and they shook hands. Nikkie looked to the ground "Now the fun part. Getting down. Race ya!" and down went Nikkie as fast as she could.

Jacob smiled at the sun as he continued to soar among the clouds. He and Shade had been flying for about an hour now, and they both showed no signs of stopping. Shade lowered his head to gain more momentum as they flew through the clouds. Jacob steered Shade as they flew higher into the sky, and then dropped down. At the last second, Shade stopped and they landed onto the ground. Jacob jumped off Shade's back, as Shade shook his head to get rid of his ruffled mane. Jacob led Shade back into its stable, and brushed its mane. Neighing softly, the horse's eyes were holding back sleep. Jacob noticed the tiredness in Shade's eyes. He smiled and exclaimed ''I'll let you sleep, see you tomorrow''. The pegasus neighed in response, closed its eyes, and fell asleep. Jacob quietly left the stables and, deciding to check out his cabin, started for the cabin area

Nikkie walked away from the rockwall with more than two losses with her and only a handful of wins, and that was against other kids not from the Hermes cabin. Still she was in a good mood. It was fun to race, even if you lost along the way. She headed over to the arena for better target practice. She got it. The only one she missed was the one she placed on the top of the rows that lined the arena. And in her defense it was a small target and to far away to get a proper look at it to judge her angle and strength. She had over estimated on both and hoped she hadn't shot anyone outside the arena on accident. With all her arrows back she went back to work, trying to pick up the speed so it was that between drawing and releasing there was five seconds or less.

Jacob had been walking for a few minutes when he reached the cabin area. Upon reaching, Jacob noticed there were different designs for each cabin. Directly in the center of the omega shape, was a large marble looking building, with large pillars supporting the roof. Jacob guessed this ''mausoleum'' was the cabin of Zeus, who, being the leader, would have the best looking cabin. To the right of the Zeus cabin, was also a marble looking cabin, However, the designs were much fancier than that of the Zeus cabin. The doors seemed to have never been opened, meaning no campers occupied it. Due to its regal look, Jacob guessed the cabin was that of Hera. To the left of Zeus's cabin, was a low, sea-blue looking cabin. Due to its color, Jacob guessed it was Poseidon's cabin. Other cabins Jacob saw, included, a red war-like cabin, a solid gold colored cabin, a cabin lined with grape vines, and even a cabin with a checker-board like floor. Stopping in front of one, Jacob immediately guessed it was Demeter's. The walls were covered in flowers, and the door was plastered by tomato plants. The roof was even covered in real grass! Jacob admired the landscape for a few minutes, then opened the doors.

As Jacob stepped inside, he noticed that the floor was covered in grass, and the walls were covered in either wood or concrete. As Jacob chose his bunk, he noticed that they grew out of trees. In the center of the cabin, was a small garden, where plants could be grown. Jacob settled into his bunk, closed his eyes, and took in the nature aura of the cabin.

Nikkie relaxed on the bench tired from her shooting practice. She was enjoying the next hour or so in which she'd be completely awake. Once the sun was down, her energy always faded. She raised her head a bit to look at the targets around. They all had a tight grouping of holes in and around the center. She laid back again, and her stomach growled. Oh, hush you. Dinner will be soon enough. Not satisfied with this answer her stomach growled again. Nikkie rolled her eyes. Never happy are you? She stood up and walked out of the arena. She wasn't heading anywhere, just wandering.

After an hour or so of sleep, Jacob woke up and stretched. Taking in the nature-like smell of the cabin once more, Jacob got out of his bunk and walked toward the door. He opened the door, and stepped out to the sun starting to set in the sky. He stretched once more, and left the cabin area. Jacob tried to ignore the impatient grumbling of his stomach, trying to explain that dinner was coming soon. But it continued to grumble. Deciding to go for a walk to get the protests out of his head, Jacob left the camp area and headed toward the lake.

Her wandering walk took Nikkie around through the strawberry fields, where she stole some to stave off her growling stomach, past the Big House, back to the fields for more strawberries, in and out of the stables and through the forest. Her energy was starting to wan already, so she stretched out on a rock in the middle of a clearing, soaking up the sun. She struggled to stay awake because she did not want to wake up after dinner and with a sun burn on half of her. But the sunlight was nice and the rock was surprisingly comfortable and warm she decided a few moments of sleep won't hurt.

She woke up with a falling sensation. She open her eyes and realized she had fallen off her rock and to the ground. The conch was sounding. Jerking to her knees she shouted, "Dinner!" and took of to the dinner pavilion.

After a minutes of relaxing in the sand. Jacob sat up and decided to walk back to camp and see if it was almost time for dinner. As he was walking back, he noticed the sun had gone down beyond the horizon, and that all the naiads had gone back to their watery homes. He smiled at the beauty of the evening sky, and continued back. As he entered the main area, he heard a conch being sounded. That conch only meant one thing. ''Finally, dinner time" Jacob exclaimed as her hurried to the dining pavilion. As he entered, he noticed many other campers had already reached and were at their respective tables. Jacob looked over at an empty table and frowned slightly. That empty table reminded him that he was the only child of Demeter currently, and that he would be eating alone. Jacob sighed as he strode over and sat down at his lone table.

Nikkie raced into the pavilion, braking when she reached the buffet. She inhaled deeply and her stomach growled as if to say, Stop sniffin', get something to eat! Taking a plate she picked up fruits and a burger. Stopping for a moment she picked up an extra orange and, when she passed it, tossed it into the fire saying, "For the gods," before hurring over to her table. Her siblings were alread there and she plopped down in an empty seat. She thought for a moment before summoning milk to her cup. Once satisfied that everything was in order she began to devour her food.

When Jacob noticed people were getting their food, he got up and joined the crowd. He took a plate, and picked up some fruits and French fries. He noticed all the other campers were tossing some of their share in the fire, exclaiming, ''For the gods''. Jacob followed their lead and tossed in an apple, and saying ''For the gods''. As Jacob was returning to his table, he noticed Nikkie with a bunch of her siblings at their table. He smiled slightly and returned to his seat. Taking a look at his cup, Jacob thought for root beer, and watched as the cup filled up. He took a sip, before starting on his food.

Nikkie paused for a moment in her feasting to look around at the rest of the campers. The pavilion was loud and lively as campers chatted with their siblings and friends. Her gaze stopped on one particular table where only one person sat. Demeter's table, that is Jacob's table. Ugh, I'd hate to be alone. She went back to her food for a moment before looking back up at his table. Eh, what the heck, sitting at a table that isn't your's isn't to strange here anymore. She stood up, grabbed her plate and cup and went over to his table. "Yo," she plopped down across from him, "So how has your first day been?"

Jacob continued to eat by himself as he looked around at the different tables. Everyone was having fun eating and chatting with their friends/siblings. Although Jacob felt a little lonely, he immediately brightened up when he noticed Nikkie get up from her table and sit down across from him. She greeted him and asked how his first day had been. Jacob smiled and exclaimed ''Hi, my first day has been really great". He paused to take a sip from his drink, before saying"About the plan we made earlier, I was thinking we could spend an hour or so just hanging by the beach again''.

"Very well," Nikkie speared a strawberry with her fork and waved it at him. "But, it can't be after curfew or the harpies might get us, and they aren't exactly kind to those breaking curfew. Or anything for that matter. In fact, when summer is over we are reminded that if we would like to stay year round we better have informed Chiron or Mr. D, or the harpies will eat us." she popped the strawberry in her mouth, "True story," she managed to get out around the strawberry. She bagan to attack the plate of food again. "Of course things have slackened up arolund here. I've heard that things were a whole lot stricter when Percy Jackson was attending camp." She stopped in the middle of her lecture to stuff the hamburger in her mouth. She looked across the table and painfully swallowed the huge bite. Clearing her thoat she said, "I have a higher than normal metabolism. My table manners are less than stellar when I'm hungry." And then she turned her attention back to her food.

Jacob continued to eat and listen as Nikkie explained that harpies would eat any campers who were out past curfew or didn't contact Mr D or Chiron to confirm that they were staying year round. Nikkie also explained that things weren't as strict as they were when Percy Jackson had been attending the camp. He chuckled when she explained that she had a higher metabolism than normal, and that her table manners tend to be not as polite when she's hungry. Jacob answered, ''Mine aren't exactly the best when it comes to food either''. He stopped to eat a fry and continued, ''Since an encounter with the harpies isn't exactly a walk in the park. I was thinking maybe we could finish early and spend half an hour or so before the camp fire''.

Nikkie nodded, "'Kay, we can do that." She stuffed another bite of brger in her mouth and considered what else to say. For once in her life she was at a loss for something to talk about. She didn't know Jacob well enough to carry out entire day conversations. Unlike her and her mortal friend. They could talk about just anime and manga all day. "So Jacob, tell me a little of your background. You know, family, friends... how you got here. What happened that made you come here. You know the basics. It's nice to know a little about people especially when they ask you out on a date." The last half of her sentence was nearly lost in her cup because she had felt the heat rise to her face again. One day and I've already blushed enough for ten people.

Jacob continued to eat instead of talking, as he was at a loss for words. Jacob never really had long conversations with people, as he spent most of his time surrounded by nature. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Nikkie ask him to explain some of his background to her. She then stated that it was nice to talk to people who ask for dates. His face immediately turned red when she mentioned the word ''date''. I'm not sure, but I think she's actually giving me another chance. I'd better not mess this one up Jacob thought as he tried to ignore the heat in his face. ''Well, I've always been the out-doorsey kind of guy, considering my mother is the Goddess of Agriculture. The reason I came here, is because I was fleeing the Minotaur.'' Jacob paused as he considered telling her the ending. He slowly continued, ''I was with my dad, and when the Minotaur attacked, it....it...killed my dad'' Jacob paused there, and quickly shook the sad thoughts of his dad dying, out of his head. Continuing on, Jacob exclaimed, ''I've never really been the kind of guy who likes girls for their looks. I've always liked a girl who likes to be herself. Anyways, what about your background ''.
