The Son of Demeter arrives..

[Jacob Adams]

Jacob took the ambrosia for Nikkie, thanked her for it, then swallowed it. He listened as Nikkie explained that ambrosia healed wounds faster, but he dropped his head when Nikkie explained that they couldn't eat until the conch was sounded. He chuckled nervously when Nikkie said that he should be more careful, ''I really do need to practice, it's just that I am more of a peaceful guy who likes to relax with nature, considering my mother is the goddess of Agriculture ''. ''Speaking of relaxing, I think we should finish the tour then go for a swim'' Jacob suggested.

Charlotte listened absent-mindfully to Nikkie’s explanations-slash-statements. “I do think this camp would at least have a snack bar or something. Ah, well, not every place can be perfect!” When Jacob mentioned swimming, however, she stiffened. “I’m not really into… water things,” she put it delicately. “You know, the whole Zeus-Poseidon thing that came up a while ago? But if we swim in the lake that’s fine. It’s just the ocean that doesn’t like me. The lake is fine, relatively.” Charlotte twirled her sword around and accidentally sliced of a layer of grass. “Oops.” The sword morphed back into a pocket knife, which she slipped into her pocket. The shield turned into a normal watch again. She soared into the sky, maneuvering around considerable better than in the arena, and dived back down to earth. “Do either of you want to try? I think I can fly with the weight of one other person. We could get a swing or something.”

Nikkie shook her head. "Thanks but no thanks, I keep my feet on the ground for now. I'm not really in the mood for a roller coaster ride. No offense to your abilities," Nikkie preferred it when she had control over the height and speed she went at. "So it seems we will be going swimming! Right after we finish the tour," without a pause she sheathed her knife, spun on her heel and walked out of the arena. "Don't worry! There isn't to much more of the camp to see!" she picked her pace up to a trot and paused for only a moment at the armories. "As I said before this is the armories and forges and the kids of Hephaestus work here. And here," she moved onward, "is the stables." She went in and talked in the most professional way she could manage. "As you can see, these are not your normal horses. These horses are specifically bred for strength, stamina, speed, agility, and of course, flying." With a grin on her face she spun around and talked in her normal voice, "Not horses at all actually. Pegasi! We use them in battle, and just your average day lessons on how to control a flying horse." Nikkie chuckled at that. There was nothing normal in this camp.

“Yea, I thought so after you saw me in the arena. I like open spaces better.” Charlotte laughed. “Swimming sounds great.” She kept her feet about a foot off the ground and sped expertly along-side Nikkie and listened eagerly as she gave her tour. “Pegasi as in, like, Pegasus except plural? Cool!” She looked longingly at the dappled, grey, brown, and black colored pegasi and sighed. “They’re beautiful!”

Jacob jogged to keep up with Nikkie and Charlotte. Nikkie then went on to re explain the forges and how the Hephaestus kids worked there. Next, Nikkie took them to the camp's stables. When Jacob looked inside the stables, he saw that the horses that were kept there had wings. Nikkie explained that they were Pegasi. Nikkie also explained that the Pegasi were used for battle, and for flying practice. Jacob looked at the gleaming coats of the Pegasi and exclaimed ''Amazing''.

Charlotte walked up closer and ran her hand along a Pegasi's dappled gray coat. "You're gorgeous," she whispered. The winged horse neighed in appreciation, making Charlotte laugh. Whirling around, Charlotte begged, "Can't we ride them for just a bit? I mean, look at them! They've got to be the most wonderful things I've seen yet! Pleeeeeeaaaassse?" She stood alongside the dappled gray pegasi, stroking its neck, leaning on its sturdy young form. Her eyes did not change their size, but simply looked at Nikkie and Jacob with the intensity of a wounded tiger. To fill the silence Charlotte started talking nervously. "I've never seen a pegasi; heard about the original Pegasus but I'd always assume that he was wild. Never thought there would be any chance of actually riding one of his descendants." Then she waited anxiously. "You two don't have to wait for me, I'd be fine alone..." The pegasi nickered and bobbed its head, impatient.

"Yep," Nikkie beamed before sliding over to a stall. "This is my favorite," she rubbed the neck of a huge red roan with almost blood red wings, "his name is Lughna. All these pegasi are descendants of the original Pegasus, so yes Charlotte you are correct. And a word of advice, don't talk to them like they are normal animals, they understand you quite well. Well, I'm sure all of the mortal animals can too, but not everyone can communicate with animals," she paused for a moment thinking over Charlotte's plead. She didn't know what to say. There often was someone else around when there were flying lessons. The pegasi were gentle enough but there still were accidents. "Well... I guess it is okay. I suppose. I mean if you were to fall off you can fly on your own, so I guess that lowers the chances of a broken leg or arm.... Alright, you can ride. Be careful though, I would hate to hear that one of my charges got injured," she gave the roan one last loving pat and walked to the doors. "Alright! Onward and... that a way ward!" she pointed in the direction of the lake and, as if someone was pulling her along, left.

Jacob followed both Nikkie and Charlotte as they entered the stables. Charlotte immediately fell in love with a grayish colored Pegasus. Nikkie, meanwhile, had gone over to a red colored one, with blood red wings.Nikkie introduced the bright colored horse as Lughna. She then went on to explain that all pegasi were descended from the original Pegasus. Nikkie also explained that pegasi are very smart and can understand humans well. As Nikkie was explaining, Jacob noticed a sleek, raven black colored pegasi a few stables over. He strode over to the calm horse and slowly reached out and stroked it's dark mane. He smiled as the pegasi slowly drifted into sleep, so he decided to let it be. Jacob strode back over to the ''group'' just as Charlotte explained that she wanted to try out her new friend. Nikkie accepted and then left towards the lake. Jacob glanced between both girls then decided he would come back later and visit his new friend. So, saying a final goodbye to Charlotte, Jacob left the stables and followed Nikkie down to the lake.

Charlotte nodded when Nikkie mentioned that pegasi weren’t normal animals. “I can tell,” she said seriously. Charlotte turned to the dappled gray pegasi and smiled. “Could we?” The pegasi snorted and flapped its wings. “Great!” Charlotte’s eyes sparkled, and she mounted. They soared high into the sky, twisting and turning like wild things. From the ground Charlotte seemed to be glued onto the horse. Their streamlined figures tore through the clouds faster than the wind itself. Merry laughs rained down on campers below and echoed through the camp. Far above them, Charlotte played the guessing game with the pegasi. “Torrent? Windy? Cloudy? Tempest? Lightning?” She laughed and threw up her hands while keeping her balance. “I give up. We’ll have to find someone who can understand you.” Then they took a sharp dive down to the lake, the pegasi’s hooves skimming the water until they touched land. “Hey Nikkie, Jacob! Do you know anyone who can understand pegasi? I want to know his name.”

Nikkie hunched her shoulders as a huge wind overcame them. She watched as Charlotte came down on the pegasus. She flies like she has ridden a pegasus all her life. Well, she is the daughter of the sky god. Charlotte had a question. "If you wish to know 'is name I would ask one of the Poseidon kids, that's how I found out Lughna's name. Or maybe Chiron or one of the satyrs might be able to help you," she moved over to the pegasus and help out her hand for it to know she was going to pet it before stroking the forehead right under its forelock. "You guys seem to be made for each other, only thing that would be better is if you could communicate." She stood back so Charlotte would have a clear take off. "Have fun!" she gave a half wave before continuing the short distance left to the lake.

Charlotte smiled. “Thanks for the information! I’ll be sure to remember that.” With that, she flew off again to look for a satyr. She didn’t have to look long. “AHA!” Charlotte led the horse to swoop down upon a frightened looking satyr. “HEY THERE!” She yelled cheerfully. “Can you tell me what his name is?” The satyr looked nervous but complied with a short answer: “Sky.” And he scurried away. Charlotte gave a long laugh. “So that’s it, Sky. Ah, it fits you. C’mon.” They swooped up again and pinpointed Nikkie’s position. Then they started diving, but Charlotte rolled off of the pegasi’s back and went free-falling through the air, neck and neck with Sky. The very moment before she hit the ground, Charlotte pulled up and landed expertly with Sky. “His name is Sky. He’s going to teach me how to fly better.”

Jacob had been following Nikkie, when he noticed a shadow in the sky, diving straight for them. The shadow touch downed right in front of them, and revealed itself to be Charlotte and her new peagasus friend. Charlotte came down from the pegasus, and revealed that she wanted to find out its name. Nikkie then explained that some of the children of Poseidon or maybe even Chiron or the satyrs would know. Charlotte thanked Nikkie and then took of into the sky. Those two seem like they've known each other for years , Jacob thought as he quickly snapped out of his thoughts and once again started following Nikkie as they neared the lake. A few minutes later, Jacob again saw that familiar shadow as Charlotte free-fell from the sky. Jacob shielded his eyes as Charlotte expertly stopped the pegasus right before the ground. Charlotte explained that the pegasus was named Sky, and that they were going to practice flying. Jacob smiled and exclaimed ''That's great, you two seem as though you've been at it for years''.

"Sky, a wonderful name for a pegasus who flies so beautifully," Nikkie nodded. It was then she realized that Charlotte came flying down by herself, her new friend flying alone. "I also notice that you control your flying abilities much better now," the corner of her mouth twitched upwards in a half smile, "so maybe he is helping you already." She looked around Charlotte towards the lake which was now in full veiw. "Are you going to join us? You could invite Sky," the daughter of Apollo was itching to move again.

Charlotte shook her head. "I don't think Sky is big on swimming, since air is his natural element. But I'll go." She turned to the cocky pegasus and waved a hand. "See you later, Sky!" The winged horse neighed loud and long, then took off, doing several loop-de-loops in the sky. "Show off," Charlotte muttered happily. "So, about this swimming..."

Jacob glanced at Sky as Nikkie and Charlotte started discussing whether Sky would like to come swimming. Jacob sighed as Sky reminded him of the raven colored pegasus he had met earlier. I'm going to come back a bit later, don't worry. Jacob wasn't sure if the pegasus could actually sense his thoughts from the stable, but he had a feeling the winged horse understood him. As Jacob snapped out of his thoughts, he realized that the girls were nearing the end of their conversation. He watched as Charlotte waved a hand, and said good bye to Sky as it neighed and took off into the sky, doing several loop-de-loops while he was at it. Jacob then started running to the lake, ''Race you guys there!!" He exclaimed as he sprinted away from the group.

Nikkie flinched in surprise as Jacob went racing past her to the lake. "Hey! You're supposed to give a little warning before you start a race!" she called in mock anger but she was then running after him. It was a challenge and she accepted it. She lengthed her stride and soon caught up with him. Another great thing of being way to hyper, you never seem to tire. She couldn't pull ahead though. She gritted her teeth and put on a final burst of speed as they neared the beach.

OOC: Now it's my turn for a short post ;D


Jacob panted as he sprinted toward the lake, wondering if his sudden challenge was enough to give him time to get to the lake. Suddenly, he saw Nikkie sprinting along right beside him, I guess I was wrongJacob thought as he and Nikkie were tied neck and neck. Jacob tried to pick up his pace as he used every ounce of speed he had left. Nikkie, was keeping up with him regardless.

Nikkie grinned at Jacob, lengthened her stride farther and pulled at least a step ahead. When she hit the beach she skidded to a halt spraying up the sand. She didn't see if she won or if if it was a tie or if Jacob won, but she thrust her fist into the air making a 'V' with her fingers. "Victory!" she shouted. Then calming down a bit, she whirled around to face the other two. "So, how was that for a race?" then she fell backwards into the sand and laid there. She was breathing heavily, "Either I'm out of shape or you are way faster then anyone I've ever raced, and since I'm pretty sure I'm not out of shape I'm gonna go with.... You're fast." Nikkie wasn't down long though, a few seconds later she jumped up and faced the lake. "Welcome to the lake!"

Jacob panted as Nikkie started to pull a step ahead, dang she's fast Jacob thought as Nikkie reached the beach and skidded to a stop. She made a ''V''shape and exclaimed victory. Jacob smiled as she complemented him on his running skills. ''Thanks, I ran a lot when I vacationed in the country''Jacob explained as he scoped the landscape. The beach was large and had a crystal clear lake, with the beach stretching far along the coastline. Jacob could see his own reflection in the water as he peered into the clear surface. ''I think I'll start things off with some R and R''He said as he laid down in the soft sand, and soaked in the sun. ''You guys are welcome to join me''Jacob exclaimed as he stared into the clear blue sky.

"Nope!" Nikkie grinned. She removed her quiver from her back, unclipped her belt and let it, her knife and scabbard drop into the sand. Trotting away towards the lake she rolled up her pants and waded up to her knees before laying on her back and floating. It was a warm day and she was glad for the cool water of the lake. Yes, she was dressed but she dove under the water and swam around. The naidids were swimming around doing whatever naidids did best, which would probably fliting or improving their looks. Nikkie shrugged and swam to the surface.

Jacob sat upright and watched as Nikkie had fun swimming in the lake. The sun seemed to make Nikki's hair seem like it was on fire. Jacob thought it made her seem prettier. He soon started blushing again when he realized what he had thought. Nikkie's really nice, but I don't think she'll ever be interested in me Jacob thought as he switched his gaze from Nikkie to the sand. She's probably creeped out by what I said earlier Jacob said as he sighed.

Nikkie broke the surface of the lake and laid on her back again. She squinted up at the sun and guessed a time. Perhaps three? Maybe earlier, maybe later. She shrugged again before turning and diving under again. She swam down to the bottom and stayed there in a sitting position until her lungs burned. She pushed off from the floor and shot to the surface. Taking in gulps of air she treaded water until she wasn't so light headed and her ears popped. After that she paddled to the shore and hurried out. She dropped down in the sand and watched the lake. "It's a good day to swim. Of course everyday here is a good day to go swimming."

Jacob watched as Nikkie broke surface and laid down on her back. He wondered what she was thinking about as she squinted at the sun. Jacob sighed as he once again saw her hair seem like it was on fire. Suddenly, she swam back under water, and stayed down for a little while. Jacob blinked as he wondered what she was doing. He sighed a little as she once again broke surface and hurried out of the water. Jacob once again blushed as he caught himself staring at her, as she looked out toward the lake. Taking a deep breath, Jacob stood up and slowly strode over and sat next to Nikkie. He turned his gaze toward the lake and exclaimed ''It's really beautiful''

Tipping her head back until she could see Jacob. Nikkie remembered what he said back at the cabins and she looked back at the lake, blushing. She then frowned. Her cousin had complained to her about teasing boys, and then she nodded. Just a tease. "Yes, it is. It's funner when go swimming," jumping up she walked back to the lake. "There is fish, both normal and mythical. There are niaids and the water is as clear as crystal. Oh, and the niaids? Avoid flirting with them. It just inflates their already mega sized egos."

Jacob glanced at Nikkie as she tipped her head to see him, she looked like she remembered something and then she immediately turned back to the lake. Jacob wondered what it was as he turned his gaze back to the water. He watched as Nikkie stood up and started toward the lake, he listened as she explained about the different kinds of fish that lived there. As Jacob listened, he remembered something his father had told him when he was a little younger, Son, if you want to find out if a girl likes you, you should try flirting and see if she flirts back Jacob smiled as he remembered his father's advice. He then tuned himself in as Nikkie mentioned naiads and not to flirt with them as it would inflate their egos. Jacob smiled and decided to take a chance, ''It's not the naiads I'm interested in'', he said as he smirked.

Nikkie twisted to look back at him and she raised her eyebrows. "The nymphs in the forest are also off limits," she smiled at him. "Though you probably couldn't even catch them if they didn't want to be," she faced the lake again. "Plus they'll just hide in their tree if you get to close and then everyone will look at you weird cause you'd be hugging a tree. Then again... this is Camp Half Blood." She shrugged for what must be the fifth time that day. "Oh well, you'll have the support of the saytrs behind you if that happens."

Jacob chuckled as Nikkie explained that the nymphs of the forest were also off limits. She also explained that they were very hard to catch and that they would always hide in their trees. Jacob smirked dropped and was replaced by a smile. He placed a hand on Nikkie's shoulder, and said ''I'm not interested in any nymphs, besides, I think your more beautiful than they are''.

Nikkie glanced down at her shoulder where Jacob's hand rested. "Clearly you haven't seen either naiad or nymph. They are nortoriously beautiful. In stories men have died from trying to be with both. Either by drowning or perhaps sheer boredom of sitting and watching a tree," she stood up. She was avoiding the point entirely, especially since he had stated it so bluntly. She brushed his hand off her shoulder, not trying to be rude. "Flattery will get you nowhere," she quoted her cousin.
