Quest of the Black Mist: Decisions (Open)

"Honestly? Nothing other than the fact that it was only for heads and I wasn't invited. Do you know nothing Dom? I was sure at least my half brother could have figured out that I have more curiosity than a cat. If a messenger comes to the cabin demanding for your presence at the Big House for some reason, it doesn't matter what it is, I'm going to be there too, so, with that fact in mind, you'd think that I wouldn't volunteer for this? If you still think that you are going to change my mind about this, then forget it. I'm going, whether you like it or not. So, I'd suggest that you forget about this and start getting ready for the quest."

Dom would be lieing if he said he hadn't been expecting some kind of rant from Sawyer. But one of that magnitude. He hadn't been expecting that. When she left, he called out, "Sawyer. Sawyer" but there was no replie. Either she hadn't heard him, or she just didn't want to speak to him. He guessed it was the second one. He walked back into the meeting room simply because of the fact that he didn't he didn't want to face Sawyer.

He took his seat back at the table, placed his elbows on the table and put his face in his palms. Leaning back in his chair, he let out a sign, just as Chiron came back into the room. Looking at Dom he asked, "Trouble young Hero?" Looking at him, Dom said, "Please don't call me that Chiron. I'm not a hero. I can't even keep my own cabin safe. My sister won't even talk to me. According the prophecy one of is going to be lost along the way. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something happened to Sawyer." He stopped for a minute remembering what had happened a couple of days ok at the lake. The girl who had mysteriously appeared at the side of the lake and then just as mysteriously dissapeared. He hestitated, but before he could say anything Chiron put his hand up and said "Now listen to me Dominic. Sawyer knows what she is doing and the risks she is taking. And I'm sure that she will come to her senses soon enough. And please remember that prophecys can have double meanings. That doesn't neccersalliy mean that someone will die." He paused for a second then asked "Now. What else is troubling you young one?

Dom couldn't help but smile. It was hard to keep things secret from a guy who had been around for 3000 years. Taking a breath he said "A fews days ago, I saw a girl appear on the edge of the lake. I don't know how she got here, but she dissapeared before I could talk to her. Thats all." Chiron was stareing at him and then he said "This is strange news indeed. I will. I will think this over. If you find out anything else you will come stright to me. Swear to me." Dom looked at him and said "I swear on the Styx." Outside the thunder rumbled and Chiron said "Thank you young one. Now go back to your cabin. I'm sure your siblings will be worried about you. We will speak later. "Of course. And thank you" Chiron didn't say anything but he simply smiled and waved. Soon Dom was heading across the lawn towards his cabin. He still wasn't looking foward to speaking to Sawyer.

Reed stood silent, leaning against a tall tree, not far from the big house where a group of campers were gathering, congratulating, and giving advice about the quest. His dark, cold eyes matched the gathering mist around the forest. Mind reeling with the possibilities that were to come, we didn’t even notice his hands shaking from his pain.

“I knew I’d find you here.” Alina said, making Reed jump and spin around with expert speed. Realizing it was her right away, he let out a groan and sunk to the ground with his head in his hands.

Alina continued, trying to keep her voice calm for his sake, “You remember when we met? Nate—“ Her voice faltered slightly, “introduced us here.” She sat down next to him and hooked her hand in his elbow.

The son of Hermes nodded abruptly and took a deep breath, “Last year, when Nate went off to his quest, his prophecy was almost exactly the same as yours.” He tore into Alina’s mind with his intense eyes and continued talking, “He said he’d be fine and come back as soon as he could but he never did. I lost my best friend because of that quest, I’m not about to lose my girlfriend too! Can you even imagine how hard this is for me?”

Alina unhooked her arm and pushed away from him a little, “Don’t you dare think that you were the only one who knew Nate, or that you’re the only one that misses him. Half the cabin leaders in that meeting knew him and knows what’s going on with you. Amaria, Dylan, and Shane are just a couple of them. You may have been his best friend but there are couple people who knew him a lot longer than you!”

“How can you even say that?” Reed stood up in rage.

“Because it’s true!” Alina retorted and stood up to face him. Reed didn’t say anything for a couple of minutes as they stood staring at each other, trying to break into each other’s minds. Alina finally broke the silence, “I have to go.” She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him lightly and quickly on the cheek, “I love you.” She whispered and ran off the porch of the big house.




She got there and quickly whispered into Amaria’s ear, “He’s up to something, I’m not sure what, but he is.” Then she ran over to face the campers, “We will leave at five in the morning. Argus will drive us to the city and then we will decide what to do from there.”

Amaria walked out of the big house hand in hand with Shane. He hadnt said one word to her since she volunteered to go on the quest, and Amaria couldnt stand the silence.
"Say something," Amaria said.
Shane looked at her and asked, "What do you want me to say? My girlfriend's going on a dangerous quest that sounds like more bad will come out of it than good."
Amaria looked down at their linked hands, "You know I'll be fine. There's no way I'm not coming back to you," she said smiling at him.
Shane did one of his cocky smiles, "Yeah I know."
Just then someone called Shane's name and he had to go. Amaria was standing there watching him leave when someone came up besides her, and whispered in her ear, "He's up to something, I'm not sure what, but he is."
It took Amaria a second to realize it was Alina. Amaria didnt know who she was talking about at first, but then it dawned on her that she meant Reed. Before she could respond Alina ran over to the other campers and announced that they were leaving at 5 in the morning, and Argus will be driving us to the city.
Amaria looked around for Reed but couldnt find him. Of course Reed's up to something. It was going to be harder for him to let Alina go on the quest than anyone else. Amaria just hoped that he wouldnt do anything too drastic.
