Nikkie padded through the forest a quiver of arrows slung over her shoulder, her recurve strung and in her hand, and a small cart of cardboard and wood towed behind her. She was looking for a small area that was the least populated by trees. She cam across such a place and stopped looking around. "This'll do," she told herself. She began setting up. The cardboard pieces were really folded triangular prisms, she set up seven of them. Then she removed a stack of wood. She set it up and put her target sheet over it and clipped it on. Satisfied she slipped her bow over her head, across her chest and went over to the nearest tree and began to climb. She used to use the trees as target practice but that stopped after a very angry nymph came after her with all the arrows she had shot it with, which was a lot. Nikkie now always brought her own targets when she went to the forest. She crawled along a branch maybe twenty feet off the ground and sat up. Taking her bow and an arrow she found her center of gravity before nocking the arrow. Lining up her shot she let it fly. With a quiet ffump it embedded itself in the dead center. She repeated that three more times before stopping that. Now for some fun. She took off her quiver and tied to the branch with a strip of leather. Relaxing her grip around the branch she leaned to one side until she was upside down. She held onto it with her hands while she situated her legs so they were hooked over the branch. Hanging upside down in a battle and shooting would never happened but it was fun to see if she could do it. Plus it is a great ab workout she thought reaching for an arrow. Taking one she studied her target and notched her arrow. She let it go just as her eyesight started getting foggy from the blood rushing to her head. It punctured one of her dummies and hit the outside of her target. She wiggled back to her original position and called down, "Sorry!" and then muttered, "Even though you are just cardboard, I'm sorry!"

Sol had been looking for a quiet place to read and had thought he had found one. He opened his book and sat down, leaning against a tree. He was dressed in a plain dark green t-shirt, faded denim jeans, and black sneakers. Nothing special. Just the way he liked it. He hated standing out and tried his best not to. His sword was sheathed and hooked onto his black belt. Unlike his sheild, his sword stayed in sword form all the time. His sheild, on the other hand, transformed into a black with silver spikes bracelet which he currently had on his right wrist. He started reading, already on chapter nineteen of the book. It was interresting, not one of his favorites, but interresting. At least it didn't bore him to death. He quickly got engrossed in it, despite not being that fond of it. He only looked up when he heard what sounded like someone talking. The voice sounded female, and she had said sorry?
Curiosity filled the teenage demigod as he stood up and walked over. He leaned to the side, against a tree trunk and watched. He quietly chuckled when he realized the girl had said sorry to a peice of cardboard. She must have been strange, course nowadays who wasn't strange? Being normal was no fun in the blonde's mind. He had learned that from his old friend Anna Izumi, a daughter of Apollo. At first he had simply rolled his eyes at her, but eventually came to agree with her. His blue eyes fell onto the floor as memories came back to him. Why had the gods allowed him to live? It was far. He didn't deserve to live, his friends had. He knew they weren't alive. If they were, they would be right by his side at Camp Half-Blood. He was sure of it...

Nikkie decided to take a few more shoots before she would go and patch up her buddy. She line up her arrow and shot one more time before pulling her quiver over her head and her bow over her shoulder. She moved back to the trunk of the tree and began the descent, using knots, hollows and other branches to lower herself. It was always faster heading up then going down. She dropped the last few feet to the ground and went over to her dummies. "Well, if you hadn't moved at the last second then I wouldn't have hit you and you wouldn't have this hole in your side." Nikkie told the triangle that she had shot. She poked a couple fingers in the hole. "But that was a good shot considering. Next time we won't hesitate that long. That's what really screwed that up." She shrugged and went over to her target. There was a tight grouping of arrows in and around the bulls eye. "Ah ha! It is you fault! Do you see this? I have great aim! It's all your fault that you have a gaping hole in your side!" As she said that she whipped around to point at the prism and that was when she noticed she had an audience. "Oh, yo! What's up?" She was back over next to the tree in a flash. "What's your name? Who's kid are you? What ya doing in the forest? And how long have you been standing there?" she asked rapid fire. "Sorry I should probably introduce myself first. Manners ya know. I'm Jennifer, but I prefer to be called Nikkie, boring story though. I'm a daughter of Apollo and I was just getting some practice in."

Sol raised an eyebrow. Damn this girl could talk. So many questions, it made his head hurt. He held back a sigh and wondered if he should answer the girl's questions or not. Nikkie. That was a nice name. He sighed and opened his mouth to reply. "Sol, son of Phthonus. I've been standing here for a few minutes. I was in the forest to relax." he spoke slower than the girl had, taking time to make sure she heard every word. He tried to find the words to describe how the girl seemed to him. She seemed hyper, but fun. Maybe a bit strange, but strange was fun. Normal equaled boring and strange equaled fun. It was simple and easy to get. At least in his mind it was. Course, he had spent so much time with people who were strange that that eventually became his kind of "normal". The teenage demigod glanced at the grass, fumbling with it with his foot.
The blonde's blue eyes went back onto Nikkie and then flickered over the scene that lay before him. "You must really like beating the crap out of cardboard," he joked with a slight chuckle. He wasn't sure why he was being so nice. He didn't want to get close to anyone. He was afraid of loosing them. He had lost the other members of the Spirits of Myth and even his younger twin brother, William. He wasn't willing to loose anyone elese. If he did become friends with them, he would do whatever it took to protect them. He swore that on the River Styx.

"Sol," Nikkie echoed. She grinned, "Cool name! But... Who is Phthonus? I don't think I have heard of him before? What does he do?" She waved off whatever he was going to say. "Doesn't matter really. The forest is a good place to relax. Nice a quiet, except when there are monsters trolling about. It's a lot of fun tracking monsters. But I'm not good at it really since it takes a bit of patient. I'm not good at being patient." Nikkie was bouncing from subject to subject again, but she didn't really care. It was annoying slowing down and staying on one subject to long. When he told her about the cardboard she smiled. "Ya, I used to shoot at the trees but stopped after a nymph came after me. She was not happy. She almost got me with one of my own arrows, I was that much faster though. But having to make the prisms lets me make obstacles of whatever size I want and how many I want. And the target is smaller this way too." She frowned for a moment before looking at Sol. "So, how'd you get here at the camp? I don't think I've seen you around before."
